Windows 8 Store + Proxy

Hello all,

 

Apologies if this has been posted already, however it may help someone else -

 

By default the Microsoft Store doesn't support proxy settings. This can be a problem when downloading Windows 8.1 which won't work.

 

In Desktop mode, configure your proxy and its exceptions (if required):

 

Then from a Command Prompt (with elevated rights) enter:

 

netsh
winhttp
import proxy source=ie

 

IE's proxy settings will be imported into the Store's own proxy configuration. Re-try download Windows 8.1 and it'll work successfully.

 

You then have to repeat the above to remove proxy settings from Desktop mode, then the Microsoft Store.

netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie
