Complete ipad mess how to fix please

25 ipad mini's in 3 X griffin multidock.

 

So I'm setting up these ipads mini's using apple configurator. Did a single at ipad first which worked fine. Tuesday I started with the remaining ipads using the multidoc but it hadn't finished preparing by the end of the day so I left it running. Came back today and it's still installing ios 7.1 so I pressed cancel and although configurator says it's cancelling it shows no sign of stopping. I unplugged 1 ipad and it shows the word iTunes with a picture of a cable. Looking at the remaining ipads this same itune message appears on a handful of other ipads as well.

 

What can I do to fix this mess?

Classic case of Apple's buggy mess. I tend to watch Apple Configurator throughout the day as it has issues like you have just described. I know it sounds silly but most problems like this can be sorted by restarting the Macintosh completely, logging back in and hooking the iPads back up to Apple Configurator.

 

Sorry to say this but get ready for a life of pain.

I believe the iTunes picture and cable means that the iPad is in restore mode and needs iOS restoring or a backup restoring from iTunes. I only have 2 iPads here and they refuse to update cleanly and I see this message regularly.

I've found Apple configurator can sort this I've never had to use iTunes when it turns to this screen?

I've started configurator again and it looks like it's running ok so far.

All but 6 ipads finished ok so working well. Thanks for your help

Glad to hear it solves buddy! Yes the last 6 you may want to connect singularly rather than as a pack to prepare. If it doesn't work try restarting the mac after each one.
