VOIP question

We currently have a portable classroom, not attached to the school, but situated about 75 meters away. It is linked into the school network, but has no telephone point. We would like to be able to have a phone in the entrance area of this class, that would link to the office. It would not be an outside line, but only used if the office had to contact that teacher, or the teacher had to contact the office. We currently do not have any VOIP phones, but I wondered if it would be possible to have a VOIP phone in the portable classroom, and say one in the office that linked to each other all on the same network. What would I need other than two VOIP phones? Software?

I'd advise the free version of 3CX and buy a couple of cheap VOIP phones. The phones we buy are circa £40 from memory. Total cost then about £80 (probably cheaper) and just need to install 3CX on a spare server/old PC.

Hi Meldrew, I take it as everything is internal on the network, you would not need to purchase any outside services, just set up the program, configure it with the voip phones, and your good to go? Thanks
