Don't know anything about CMIS but just wondered if anyone knows a way or if it is possible to auto extract grades on a schedule ?

Sure. There are many ways to do that. I think I've posted some VBA on how to access the assessement stuff and an example of powershell driving CSV ouput. You could drive either of those as a scheduled task.

Dare I say, an extraction tool like ZiNET Connect ;)

And to be unbiased there are other extractions available out there...

Cheers looks like another option thanks, we have sort of developed our own way of doing SIM's to Moodle and for getting data out of SIM's just not familiar with CMIS\Facility and just wondered if it was possible so thanks.

That's ZiLink for Moodle. ZiNET Connect extracts from the MIS (many of them including Facility) and securely put the information wherever is needed. MOODLE is just one example.
