Excel Report Templates

Hi,

 

I'm a newby on here so please be gentle!

 

Currently working on some assessment reports in sims.net and have got stuck applying an excel template to the report.

 

How do I attach a template so that the data refreshes every time I run the report?

 

Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

The data won't refresh.

If you run an Excel report it will create a new excel file each time.

 

You could use one of the advanced methods to schedule a report and get it to output a file somewhere then use that or get a spreadsheet to refer to that.

 

What exactly are you hoping to achieve?

Thanks for getting back to me.

 

I want to use the data to populate some excel tables I've designed.

 

I'm sure I can design the template to pick up data from a hidden sheet.

 

I want the report to populate the hidden sheet and therefore populate the analysis tables on the next sheet.

 

Does that make sense?

What you can do is get the report to output to excel and then point a master file at the one it creates.

 

Or if you search for the advanced excel report thread it has instructions about how to supply your own template. It may be possible to include all your data on one sheet and allow sims to do its magic via a macro on the primary.

 

This would work best if your master sheet has static data and formulae.
