Is anyone else with a PS4 getting awful connection speeds when they run the 'Test Internet Connection' test on the PS4?

Mine is connected via ethernet cable, it's within spitting distance of the router so it can't be degradation from distance or anything? My PC is connected via Ethernet cable roughly the same distance away again.

PS4: 16Mbps

PC: 30+Mbps

HOW AM I LOSING SO MUCH SPEED TO THE PS4?

PS4 is estimating to take 3hours to download 5GB of BF4 DLC. My PC download 14GB in just over an hour the other night.......

What's going on?! :(

I have always had very poor rates through the PSN with the PS3 to be honest, normally when I mentioned it the SDL (Sony Defence League) would claim its my net connection....

I think it's awful... They are clearly cheeky so'in'so's as well to be blaming your net connection!!

To be fair I guess it may be a common isp but I have never got my PS3 to max out my net yet.

Sky BB (ADSL, waiting for FTTC) and has happened in 2 cities (aka eliminating a local exchange issue)

I have recently moved from ADSL to Fibre... Stayed with same ISP, Eclipse but omg I didn't know freedom until I got Fibre... :D The wait will be worth it!!

Yeah I cant wait. Not sure if there is much you can do with PSN, I figured it would be better now its all paid for by PSN+ but it may be a glitch, have other downloads been faster?

Sorry @ZeroHour, didn't spot your response. In terms of downloads from PSN since my upgrade to fibre, no. Maybe a slight improvement as my speeds have gone from about 1Mbps to 30+ but no where near what it should be really. The best I've got through the PS4 is 22Mbps... And that lasted for about 2mins!! xD Getting an average of about 16Mbps download from it, shame on you Sony.

I've always assumed PSN is so slow because of the huge load on it due to it being free. Now that you have to pay for it (on PS4, it's still free on PS3 AFAIK) I think it will improve over time as less and less people switch on their PS3s... all assumption mind you, no data to back it up!

Oooh get you...

I was getting 6.[something]Mbps last night... When then dropped to 1.[something]Mbps.

Ouch.... Ouch indeed.

Neither do I compared to some people. :p

I'm still downloading this [click to embiggen]... 2 days later. Well, the DCUO update file. I cancelled it so the core game could download at full speed... I didn't know the update was needed to actually use it.

Just tested, currently getting 61mbps and NAT2. PS4 is connected via 2 switches before hitting the VM "super hub" (120mbps). This is consistent with laptop and PC.

Infamous Second Son and MGSVGZ dropped this week, might have something to do with people slower download speeds over the last few days.

Well I do feel for you right now...

I get ~26mbps, but that's on Wireless to an old router in AP mode which is hooked up to the Superhub (120mbps) through a TP-Link ethernet adapter kit.

PC's wired into the same router, ~60mbps down. I can live with that.

Not pretty, but it works!

With those speeds, just leave this thread and never return... ;)

Fastest I have gotten on a PS3 is 2.1mb for about 3 minutes downloading BF3. People would say it was my net connection being slow, but when I explained I am on Sky Fibre, and a speed test shows I am hitting around 50mb and my PC downloads at around 28mb proved my net connection wasn't slow but it was limited on the PS3.

Just out of curiosity, is your PS3 connected via ethernet or Wifi? I have one of the first gen PS3s (the kind that could still play PS1/2 games from disc) and I have found the WiFi is appalling on it but got a significant boost via ethernet.
