Lucidpress - Free on-line desktop publishing app

I've had a look at this and it seems excellent. It's easy to use and has some quite sophisticated features. It integrates with Google docs as a linked app for convenience (or use it from their web login page)

 

I'm not a heavy DTP user, but at first glance it looks like a viable alternative to Publisher. What do you think?

Just tested it with a friend, the collaboration bit is crazy - you can see objects being moved around and edited in real time. I'm using Linux, he's using a Mac. It might even work in IE. I'm impressed. Edited March 20, 2014 by jinnantonnixx

Will be interesting to see the education discount and the cost of premium accounts compared to what limits will be placed on free accounts.

I didn't realise it wasn't going to be totally free forever. I hope the free version will be of use.

 

A good result would be for Google to buy the company and development team and put this software into their Google Apps suite.

 

Google Apps doesn’t have a strong DTP app. Google Draw is passable as long as your requirements are basic, but its limitations show up with complex layouts.

 

LucidPress is such a strong product, it could easily compete with many DTP programs.

Yeah in their forums they are pointing you to the pricing for Lucidchart as an example of the account costs for Lucidpress.

 

I want to use it to create technical manuals for our products but at the moment you can't create a table of contents so it's a bit limited but I do like how easy it is to move elements around on screen it's better than our current method of word
