It seems to me to be quite and involved process, the unblocking of websites. I have an ageing firewall ISA2006 but I don't see how a modern firewall could do better.. Example..

I'm allowing ukbiologycompetitions.org This sites needs assets from new relic google apis (over secure 443) if I allow traffic to those sites then all other websites that use those assets are going to spring to life! (gaming sites etc)

Some sites use cloudfrong and amazonaws but these normally have a userid so it ok to allow all the way up to the id...

Having to trawl through an entire site and make sure there isn't an asset you missed seems primitive and involved how would say smoothwall cope with this?

Everything I've used to filter works like that - for certain "big" sites to work there are often a few other domains/URLs you have to allow, usually CDNs or parent companies.
