HI

We are trying to get the Pearson/Edexcel on-line testing for BTEC Business to work. He have installd the software but are getting a Connection error on teh Administrator BAshboard. Pearson/Edexcel have said it is a problem with our comms/gateway/proxy etc. However from the server in question I can easily connect to their server in a web browser. Has anyone had this problem?

If your setup is like we tried first then you might have ran in to the same problem as us.

Server software on one of your servers

Exams officer software on a different pc

If so an you manually start the service for the server software (from memory its called EcStream) then check the application event log for

Event ID 0

Source ECService

It should talk about being unable to establish a trust relationship to Pearson (I've shortened it as the actual message is huge).

We contacted Pearson who said its something to do with our onsite SSL certificate, in the end we installed the server software and exams offices software on the same system.

We had fun with this last year before we stopped using it.

What do you use in the way of filtering for you internet access ???

We have TMS on our Proxy server for internet access. Like I said we can talk happily through a web prowser but ping and tracert fail, though I think that is because they cannot cope with proxy.
