Schoolcomms - show added persons by group

Hi,

 

When you send an email to, say, four art classes, the recipients box(es) populate with the names of people in those classes which is useful.

 

However would it be possible to have a tick box/radio box to say 'Show groups' (or 'show breakdown') so if I get broken off and can't remember which groups I've added, I can switch views.

 

If I've added some groups and some individuals, then the individuals should still show on the groups so I can see exactly who I've selected. (The four art classes plus these three A* Graphics students plus these four Teachers, for example)

I have a wishlist item too - I would like to be able to filter the list of individual students so that if I have to pick certain Year 8s for example, I can filter so that I am only going through 350 instead of 1750.

When you cherry pick like that, is it quicker to just search by name?

The search is pretty quick, certainly in the desktop program. I know the web way can be slow.

We do search by surname, but if the search results only contained the right year group, finding the person in the returned results would be quicker. 'Smith' is a worst case example.

Well actually Muhammad; there are 17 Mohammads, 18 Muhammads, 9 Mohamads, 12 Mohameds - That's the problem with a phonetic alphabet that gets translated. 5% are all effectively the same name, but we have to spell them correctly to find them!

Yes we are looking at providing richer functionality for selecting recipients and related areas, it's a pretty old bit of Schoolcomms and the sophistication of what schools are using Schoolcomms for has grown immeasurably. I can't make any promises about when we will do this but we are aware and want to cover this properly as part of some longer term plans.

For us personally it wouldn't make much difference as we have vertical tutor groups so the TG doesn't identify the year group. A filter to reduce the number I am looking through would be ideal.
