Office 365 - Auto Populate The Lync Sing In Address

Just looking at this post - Lync 2013 client does not get sign-in username automatically in first time? | IM, meetings and conferencing | Microsoft Office 365 Community

 

It looks like Lync can't automatically discover the sign in address with office 365, does anyone know how any script or something else I could use to get this populated please? Lync on premise install automatic, it picks up the sign in address from AD. Can I populate that in AD some how to make it behave the same way please?

We just get the user to enter their e-mail address manually if they wish to use the Lync client on site. As it remembers their sign in details on subsequent logons it's not a major hardship for them. We are not using ADFS, and their e-mail address is already entered into the Active Directory

I think that the Lync client picks up the sign in address from the msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress attribute in Active Directory. This attribute is added to the schema when you install an on-premis Lync.

@rpwillis that works! woo hoo. But you need to extend the schema with Lync on premise.

OK, we should be able to populate that then as part of the user account provisioning.

Better try running DirSync though to make sure adding them doesn't affect that. DirSync replicates that value to Azure ADFS as the authoritative source.

DirSYNC has run and it hasn't broken anything on the test account. Just got 1 little thing to sort and its ready to launch.
