sarahstacey Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Hi, We have just purchased 6 ipad minis, I've set up VPP and the meraki dashboard, all good so far. When I grant a user (ipad) to use VPP, an invitation is sent and they are then directed to the appstore. They log in but are then asked to enter payment details. Why is that if I've already set up payment details for VPP? I really don't understand! Can someone who has been through this process please help. Apologies if my question is confusing, I'm confused! Many thanks

Many thanks It is because that Apple ID is NOT associated with iTunes, the Apple ID has just been created on appleid.com, you need to create a non credit card account on iTunes, details are below.. iTunes: How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes
Ephelyon Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 We're having problems with this setup too. Meraki is configured, owner set up, device enrolled, VPP online and purchase of a test app made: But when I try to view the licensed apps in Meraki so I can assign it to an owner/user, it firstly shows no licenses and then when forced to sync just shows this, which can't be clicked on: Tried it in multiple browsers in case that was it. Bought the test app last night. Confused now... :/
sarahstacey Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 Thank you Brimstone, But it still asks me for billing info. I'v opened a case with Apple and will post back if i get anywhere. One of Apple's suggestions was to add the billing info then delete it. Which maybe ok on a few devices but if you are managing class sets etc not really pratical.
sarahstacey Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 Yes Ephelyon, i have exactly that issue too. if I get to the bottom of that one, I'll post back. Just trying to sort out the apple id and billing first
Ephelyon Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Just logged in and our issue is resolved - same for you too, @sarahstacey?
sarahstacey Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Hi Ephelyon, Yes that's fine for me too.
sarahstacey Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Thank you Brimstone, But it still asks me for billing info. I'v opened a case with Apple and will post back if i get anywhere. One of Apple's suggestions was to add the billing info then delete it. Which maybe ok on a few devices but if you are managing class sets etc not really pratical. After filling in an Apple support form and being informed they would get back to me in 5 days I went ahead and added billing info and then deleted it. This has worked and allowed me to get the ipads set up. So ok because we only have 6, but I will be interested to hear what they come back with as a practical solution.
fredbayker Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 You need to sign up IDs through iTunes. 1. Open up iTunes on a PC/laptop or App Store on an iPad. Sign out any Apple ID. 2. Search and select a free app. Click install. 3. When prompted for an Apple ID, click create new and complete the necessary gubbins. When you get to the payment section, it will have 'none' selected. 4. Complete the rest of the sign up and then verify the email that is dispatched on completion.
