Jonesminor Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Has anyone upgraded Server 2012 to R2 with Exchange 2013 SP1 installed? If so, did all go smoothly? Tried this on a test server with a couple of databases and mailboxes. I stopped Exchange services before running the upgrade (perhaps I should have disabled services also?). No AV or DAG to worry about. Post upgrade to R2 I was unable to mount any of the databases; they were showing 'dirty shutdown'. Esentutl /r fixed one empty database, no help with the other 2.. various errors about missing logs and checkpoints. Using the /p switch, the database returns to clean shutdown, mounts then immediately dismounts and goes back to dirty shutdown. I'm going to have another go but would welcome any tips if I'm missing something. Thanks. --
FN-GM Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 In place upgrades are not supported. You should setup a second server and migrate the data. Have you put 2013 SP1 on?
Jonesminor Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Thanks for that. I had another go, same result. Yes, installed 2013 SP1 before the upgrade, only on the test server. Installed ok. I'll have abash with a new R2 VM and fresh install of 2013 SP1. Thanks. --
