Hi,

We have a licence for AB Tutor control v6 and dont use it for any policies as you have to have the machines on before you can apply.

We had impero for a year which seemd to work ok but we cant justify the ongoing costs and it seems the day the support contract ended the file blocking policies went crazy. Could be conicidence but who knows.

Noticed AB tutor has v7 out. Is v7 still the same with only letting you apply policies to connected machines?

Thanks

Just had a check, it looks like you can apply a policy to a group and then add PC's to that group, so in theory when those PC's turn on the policy should apply.

Maybe someone can back me up on this, as we don't normally use policies in this way.

Yes, that's how I did them, have a shutdown policy that I applied to a group and all PC's in that group got it. However to remove that particular one, had to do it per PC not via group (although I think this was because of the type of policy). I think temp policies can be removed by group.

Thanks for responding.

Im guessing this has been changed since v6 then. Have groups in v6 and have applied policies to them but they dont get added.

Update. Its actually working, havnt tried for a while and its obviously been fixed in the newer v6 program. Do you know when it applies? do you have to restart AB tutor to apply? What about when you change policies, does it update?

Will have a play now.

If the pc's are in the group that should be all that is needed regardless if you have abtutor open or not. The policies should apply almost straight away. Policies stay active when abtutor is closed, that is why we have to set the time limited ones otherwise the teachers leave them on.
