NickDay85 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Hi all, My data manager has requested that we have SOLUS3 installed this half term so I dedicated today to do so. Unfortunately I've failed at the first hurdle as it wants to install SQL Compact Edition (both x86 and x64) as a prerequisite, but is failing. If I try to install these manually I get errors and a failed install (installation was interrupted). I've spoken to my support agents and they've suggested a different version of SQL Compact, but I'm having the same problems. Has anyone else had problems installing this on Windows Server 2012?? (I know there have been problems with SOLUS3 itself, but surely I can't be the only person who hasn't even been able to install the thing?) Any help or advice would be a great help! Cheers Nick
Ghostgame Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 What version of SQL are you using and is the SOLUS3 installer for 3.6.94?
NickDay85 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 It's SQL 2012 and is indeed 3.6.94
Ghostgame Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Can't see anything from that would stop SQL Compact Edition being installed and SQL2012 is supported. Only thing I can think of is to right click the .exe and run as admin. Other than that this might be an issue for Capita, unless anyone else can think of something.
NickDay85 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 No, it's strange. I've done everything I can think of, and the support guys even seem stumped. The next thing to try is t reboot the server before passing it over to Capita. Joy!
matt40k Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 If a reboot doesn't work and check the log file.
NickDay85 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Ok. I have Solus 3 installed and agents deploying (yay) but SIMS isn't being installed or updated (noooooo). What am I doing wrong?
Cache Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Have you deployed atleast one SIMS update using Solus3 (and it needs to be one which hasn't been withdrawn). Even if you have already installed it using Solus2, SIMS won't be automatically sent out until a deployment has taken place.
NickDay85 Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Ah, well that would definitely make sense as to why it's not deploying to clients. Does that mean I can't fully test SOLUS 3 until spring release? There's no way of forcing it?
NickDay85 Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 How do I do that? (Sorry for being dumb)
Ghostgame Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 If you have not done it already, go to Manage Updates. Select the relevant update and then click Deploy selected update. If you have already deployed an update via SOLUS3, you can redeploy it again by going into Deployment History. Select the relervant update in Deployment History. Hit Deploy now. If you want to redeploy to specific workstations, go to the 3rd panel down in Targets in the Deployment, there should be a horseshoe (I have no idea what else to call it) arrow. Click that arrow. Select the agents you want to deploy to. Save. Click Deploy now.
NickDay85 Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Ah, now that's where my problem lies. I haven't deployed anything using SOLUS 3 yet, as I only installed it yesterday. If I go to manage updates there's nothing in there to deploy. I must have done something wrong somewhere…
Ghostgame Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Check the other thread I have provided a possible answer for that problem as well
neilenormal Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Ah, now that's where my problem lies. I haven't deployed anything using SOLUS 3 yet, as I only installed it yesterday. If I go to manage updates there's nothing in there to deploy. I must have done something wrong somewhere… Go to Manage updates screen, down the left there is a date field with a date probably something like a month ago iirc. Remove the year off the end of this date, and some updates may then be shown. There is a little tick below here as well, something like show all updates, then there should be loads come into view. HTH
NickDay85 Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 All done. Support hadn't made the release available to us. Deployment working as expected now. Thanks everyone for your help.
