Just came accross this article on the BBC from Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (IPACA) where 1:1 chromebooks and heavy use of google docs has been implemented

Umm......at what point in time did a Chromebook laptop become known as a "tablet computer"? Before I clicked on the link, I thought perhaps there was a new Chrome tablet out.

 

Moving on - I think if a school is strongly willing to commit to heavy use of Google Drive, Cloud Print, and accepts the limitations of Chromebooks (there are many) then they can be a low-cost and reasonably effective way to put computers in the hands of a lot of students. They aren't for everyone or every school though. We are currently making limited use of them.
