Up to date ICT E-Safety scheme of work

Hi Guys,

 

I've been tasked with finding a ICT E-Safety scheme of work to be taught in my school. The one we have is 4-5 years old and I'm told that County doesn't have an up to date one so I'm having to look further afield. Can anyone advise as to what they are currently using or point me in the direction of something I could doctor for our needs? The Head is looking to have resources that are dynamic and as interactive as possible.

I taught this this year to my year 7's and 8's and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The Makewaves social networking accounts meant that they had a chance to practice how to stay safe online without having to give them access to Facebook etc.... You also have a good level of control over it so are able to monitor things and can set it up so that content has to be accepted before going live.

 

Plus, you can hand out a certificate at the end of it or a digital badge!

There is a brilliant digital literacy scheme of work from the SWGfL which maps e-Safety education and resources from foundation stage to sixth form available here: www.digital-literacy.org.uk/Home.aspx . It looks at e-Safety education in its broadest sense (e.g. not just focusing on grooming) and it maps UK based and international resources to both the computing and PSHE curriculum and enables schools to ensure that they are building on children's skills. They also feature resources to send home as homework to encourage parent/carer participation which schools have reported to be incredibly helpful.
