  1. Hi, Could someone explain what is the cost benefit of the A3 license? We currently have A1 licences for staff and students so get access to O365 accounts for free. We have an OVS agreement in place based on 33 FTE staff and pay approx. £1650 per year for this. This allows us to install Office and Windows on staff and student devices. Looking online you pay for the A3 per staff/student per month (£2.85 and £2.20 respectively) so based on those figures staff licensing cost £2.85 x 33 FTE x 12 months = £1128.60 a year whilst pupils would be £2.20 x 240 x 12 months = £6336 a year. This gives a grand total of £7464.60 a year for A3 licensing more than £5800 a year than we are currently playing. I understand that if/when we move to a cloud server we will need A3 licences. Have I missed something here? Pricing source: Compare Office 365 Education Plans (microsoft.com)
  2. They now go by the name of TOTAL SOLUTIONS There is/was a large investigation taking place after the profit making part of the Tandem was sold and the loss making part liquidated leaving schools high and dry. There was also a number of issues that they had: 1.Tandem had been leasing the same machines with different companies when a school signed up for a 2nd time (this is something that they were very pushy with when they tried it with us!) 2. When we entered the contract we were told in writing that we'd be given a whole class of laptops. This turned out to be 12 that we got begrudgingly. 3. We'd be told something by a number of sales people verbally and in an email only for them to deny that the conversations even took place. 4. They stopped supplying toners and printer consumables towards the end of the 3 year agreement meaning that schools had to source their own (they did recommend Total Solutions as a consumables supplier!) 5. They never had correct figures in regards to how many prints we had produced. We took monthly meter meetings so we knew our usage and their numbers were always much higher so they wanted more money from us. I could go on! To top it all off we had Total Solutions get in contact during our messy parting from Tandem asking if we wanted to enter in to a 3 year contract with them! I'd never touch Total Solutions because (as far as I'm concerned) they are Tandem Solutions just with a different coat of paint.
  3. Hi Guys, I've been tasked with finding a ICT E-Safety scheme of work to be taught in my school. The one we have is 4-5 years old and I'm told that County doesn't have an up to date one so I'm having to look further afield. Can anyone advise as to what they are currently using or point me in the direction of something I could doctor for our needs? The Head is looking to have resources that are dynamic and as interactive as possible. Regards Shaun
