LosOjos Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Title says it all, I'll be buying it Has anyone seen any decent pre-order deals? I haven't seen anything that would make it worthwhile pre-ordering TBH...

X-13 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Even at a bus stop? I have it on a laptop, so yes. Would also work on a tablet, to some degree.
LosOjos Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Well I don't have a tablet (don't see the point), don't have a laptop, but am happy to drop my Vita in my pocket and carry it around with me, so I'll be buying the Vita version EDIT the "HD remaster" part isn't particularly important to me, just an added bonus. I'm currently playing through FFIX which has had absolutely no remastering done to it - still the same great game! Edited February 10, 2014 by LosOjos

ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Until the make me a 4K HD FFVII I don't want to know!
Theblacksheep Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I have it on a laptop, so yes. Is it easy with the keyboard???
LosOjos Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Until the make me a 4K HD FFVII I don't want to know! Given how popular FFVII has been over all these years, I'm frankly amazed that they haven't done this yet! Still keep peddling the same version we've always had... and yes, I still keep buying it (well, I had it on PS1, bought it last year on Steam and will probably end up buying the PSN version to play on the Vita when I exhaust my current stock of games on it...) Theblacksheep Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I'm currently playing through FFIX which has had absolutely no remastering done to it - still the same great game! I really like VI, IX and XII... prefer the older looks and feels. Really want to see Secret of Mana from the SNES on something like 3DS, Vita or, well anything recent (Retron 5 doesnt count, although looks awesome).

Agreed! I don't want gameplay changes, I just want it to look as amazing again as it did when it first came out.
X-13 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Is it easy with the keyboard??? I use a 360 controller most of the time. But it could work. There isn't a real need for analog sticks in FFX, so wasd should be fine. Everything else is button presses, so it's just a case of mapping buttons to keys.

Arcath Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I will be picking it up for the PS3 on release, can't wait! I just pre-ordered it from amazon, not too bothered about the bonuses and I know with amazon that I will get it the cheapest it is between now and release

Really want to see Secret of Mana from the SNES on something like 3DS, Vita or, well anything recent (Retron 5 doesnt count, although looks awesome). FFX was the last one that I really got in to, though I keep thinking I should give some of the newer ones a chance. I'm a big fan of the old turn based battle systems in the older FFs, found X a bit of a faff in that respect as it was the first that started to introduce real time battles, which I'm not so keen on. To me, it takes a lot of the strategy out of the game and it from what I've seen of later FFs that only got more and more diluted. I know a lot of people prefer it, but I like the old way. The materia system in FFVII was fantastic, really enjoyed that, and the abilities in FFIX aren't bad either. Found VIII a bit slow getting in to and unfortunately my disc 1 had a scratch right on the edge which caused it to crash just before it got to the "change disc" screen, I never did get around to playing that second disc! I've never played Secret of Mana, though I have recently got Mystic Quest for my daughter as I read it was a good game for people looking to get in to RPGs
foofighterjim Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I think the magic system in FFVIII was brilliant, it took a bit of getting used to but it just added that bit more strategy to the whole game. Thinking about it I never did beat Ultimecia, I may be dusting off the PS2 tonight!
