Hi All,

We are starting a project to look to replace our current print solution and go biometric for auth and reduce the amount of printers. Main question is about the reliability of what you currently have in place and any recommended, resellers.

What is everyones thoughts on Kyocera, Konica Minolta, Sharp, Canon, Ricoh is there is any I have missed please do comment on them.

Thanks in advance

We have Toshiba MFD's with NRS biometrics and Papercut. We have had a few issues with the readers but they are being changed for fresh ones soons. Apart from that its pretty reliable.

Mifare cards work really well i think nrs are now adding card readers to their biometric tills.

You need to allow for another method of authentication in case of no parental permission for biometrics....

Chewing gum, marker pens, tippex and tin foil hat parents were our main problems.

Surely the first 3 issues are all about behaviour management? If they are getting damaged surely using a card reader or something will do the same thing?

If they are not on the biometric system they login to the MFP's using AD username and password.

The issue with using cards is the kids will loose them. Hopefully they won't loose a finger!

Sharp, PaperCut and mifare/proximity fobs.

Biometrics will make it very costly.

You can just have a Sharp MFD and PaperCut and login with credentials, or create pin numbers in PaperCut for each user and then use card readers say just on staff machines.

Ricoh with biometrics n papercut been fantastic tho this has just reminded me i need to upgrade papercut.

Copiers are brilliant only had a few teething issues but ricoh support is always quick. Think longest we have had a copier out of action is 4 hours?

We have 15 Konica Minolta MFDs across the campus (5 of which are colour), using MiFare cards with Pcounter embedded.

Just had our yearly account review ImageUploadedByEduGeek1391851729.845215.jpg

it would of been 100% if not for a member of staff trying to tape fabric to a piece of paper and feeding it through an MFD !
