Ipod Touch Vista 64 bit

A friend of mine came to me today asking why he could not transfer Media from his PC onto his new Ipod Touch.

 

He is using Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit

 

When he starts up Itunes with the touch plugged in this is the message he gets.

 

''Please connect iPhone to a computer running a 32-bit version of Windows XP (SP2) or Windows Vista''

 

Without Touch plugged in ITunes starts up normally strange thing is he gets a removable device appear in My Computer named ''apple ipod''

 

So all i can think of is that the touch/iphone is incompatible with 64 bit Operating systems am i right in saying that?

 

or is Itunes 7.4.3.1 incompatible with Windows Vista 64 Bit

Probably the Itunes software isn't fully compatible with Vista 64-bit.

A friend of mine has installed Vista 64-bit and has an ipod, so I'll see if I can get him to investigate.

Has your friend tried running it in compatibility mode? Or possibly 32-bit mode (I believe there's a 32 bit emulator).

I will put that accross to him ask him to try what you suggested, also that would be great if you could ask your mate how he got on.

And a part in that said "iTunes is currently not supported in Windows XP Professional x64 Edition or any 64-bit edition of Windows Vista."

 

So i think i found my answer, It is Itunes thats the problem

Old thread i know, but ive been using my touch with my Vista64 machine for a few days now, and it works flawlessly. Touch wood. (pun not intended.)
