UP! Plus 2 vs Cube 3D printers - advice please

Hi everyone,

 

I've got a bit of a windfall in the budget right now and am interested in getting a 3D Printer. Our construction department already has a MakerBot Replicator Duo and I'm not overly impressed. It seems to spend a lot of its time out of action. I know the teacher who uses it has also spent a lot time calibrating it. Being in the web design department, 3D printing is a little outside my remit, but I've done a lot with 3D software and have managed to print some things on the MakerBot.

 

So, that's the history. Basically I want something in the office that's low maintenance and easy to use. Which brings me to the Cube and the UP! Plus 2. At BETT this year, GoPrint3D warned me off the Cube, but the UP! is £300+ more.

 

In terms of the sort of things I'll be printing (hotshoe adaptors, mobile phone stands etc...) the smaller printing size is fine.

 

Has anyone experience with either printer? And does anyone have any preference for either?

I've had a real ball-ache with the Cube (formerly BFB) printer. Their support is pretty rubbish, too, from my experience. I emailed them and it took more than three weeks for them to call me back.

You never know, it might just be me, but I'm less than impressed so far.

Thanks, I must admit, I've heard nothing good about the Cube. Has anyone any experience of the UP! Plus 2 (or even the UP! original)

Just thought I'd follow up. We got a deal on an UP in the end. it's absolutely brilliant. Very easy to use an good quality prints. I'd recommend this model to anyone.
