Is anyone here using Blackboard drive with their Blackboard deployments? If so, have you figured out a way to stop the installer from rebooting your PC when you run it quietly?

The frustrating thing is, it's an MSI installer bundled into some proprietary wrapper. You can extract the MSI but if you run it directly using MSIEXEC and the /q or /qb switch, it tells you to go whistle so you're stuck with the stupid wrapper.

Cheers,

I've tried all the obvious switches. The wrapper errors saying that they're not recognised. It's not an installshield installer, it seems to be Blackboard's own concoction so you can't pass MSI parameters to it like you can with an installshield installer. You can run the MSI directly and it will present its interactive interface but if you Try to run it quietly, msiexec throws an error saying that the MSI is corrupt or inaccessible.

I don't understand why companies do this. MSIs work perfectly well, why bugger about with them?
