AceDaz Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Apparently someone saw an item on Look North this morning about Lancashire County Council ending One Connect, did anyone see it? The iplayer just has the show from yesterday
Arcath Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 You sure you weren't having a fantastic dream? Nice as it would be they are too integral to be just thrown out, it would require such a huge amount of work to replace them the only way to do it cleanly would result in the same people working a different company/for the council directly and we would be just as screwed. With the Lightspeed rollout just starting and the ludicrous rules about getting out of your OCL contract the schools will be stuck with them for at least another year
Achandler Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 There was definitely something to about it happening on the news this morning.
AceDaz Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Lancashire County Council to scrap One Connect Limited - Lancashire Evening Post Sadly ICT will probably remain with OCL
Arcath Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Sadly ICT will probably remain with OCL It says a new partnership will be setup to handle IT & Payroll so what we can hope is that if they are more targeted to specific services we might get the ability to contact the IT desk directly instead of having a call centre log a ticket that may or may not get looked at this month
buzzard Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Don't know if you've seen this press release - News : Lancashire County Council and BT Refresh Strategic Partnership tbh I can't see how they can go back to the way things where, most decent school "area" staff have left with a few hardcore decent people remaining, the rest, well I'd struggle to see how they could put things back together. We can only hope something gets sorted for the sake of taxpayers money. All this change and chaos doesn't help anyone!!
Leylass2001 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I can only predict further chaos for the schools, BT is BT at the end of the day and the fact that they are 'scrapping' OCL is, to me, purely for publicity to make people think they are going to put the service back together....but maybe Im just being cynical!!

Yeah reading more about it its going to be the same people on the infrastructure providing the same service. I just hope we actually get to talk to the right people, I've bounced calls off the call centre for weeks in the past before I get some from IT who then feels like me that there was need for the call centre to make this last weeks. All this also means that in April the schools will have to pay an amount they don't know yet for an SLA that they haven't seen with a company that doesn't exist yet.

You've summed it up really! Funny as that was one of the reasons the notice period was extended until the end of Jan so Schools could make an informed choice!!
