How much free disk space?

I have 2008 R2 server which has a 40Gb C:\ partition that has just dipped below 20% free - so around 7.8Gb free.

 

At what point would one get worried about the lack of disk space?

 

The server is used for our finance software.

 

The winsxs folder is currently over 9Gb and I've seen some online docs to suggest it's safe to run the following command to reclaim some space:

 

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded

 

Any comments please.

Not too much concern until you're less than <5GB.

 

Have you got IIS running on this server? Clearing those logs out is an easy way to reclaim space.

No to IIS

 

I'd rather not do the winsxs clear out unless the server was suffering as it seems sensible to leave that alone unless necessary.

You're still OK, but I would move the swap file to another volume with more space if you haven't already.
