We have our printer assigned by GPO by user but due to speed issues I want to have the netbooks (in their own ou) to not have the printers loaded no matter who logs on. Is this possible/easy to do?

This depends how you are doing your printers, if you are using GPP you can just add Item level targeting of "Computer not in OU X"

From a scripting point of view I run this: https://gist.github.com/Arcath/1438247 in a few places as a user login script that checks the OU membership of the computer you login to. That might be of some help to you

Yes, have scripted it in one school where we deploy with scripts and just had it check the name and if it contained 'netbook' don't install printers which seems to have worked so far but at the other school we had they set by GPO to see if that sorted our original issue of slow loading on netbooks. May end up going back to scripting as it seems to work.
