OK, so our site team had a "mishap" with one of our fibre cables, knocking a couple of classrooms in a remote building (remote by about 20m) offline - these are our music classes who use youtube/music quite a bit.

 

We have fibre guys coming to quote on monday, but thinking of getting a unifi bridging kit as a temp measure - does anyone know whether we'll need an ofcom license for this? Or can anyone think of a better method?

If you're just trying to link two switches, could you just run a length of external-grade Cat5e cable between them? This might not be practical (I don't know if this is accross a playgound or something), and ideally you're supposed to have current supresors at each end in case of lightning strikes.

If you're running a 2.4ghz bridge that conforms to spec then no need for any licence.

Are you referring tot he Ubiquiti NanoStation PTP kit? They would work fine for this purpose and sit in the unlicensed bands.
