Can someone help me? Mac OSX Mail App

Hi guys,

 

I am not a Mac user at all. Doing this on behalf of my parents...

 

We're about to start off the process of switching ISP's however they want to know who have been emailing them in the last 5months or so because they have to change email accounts as they won't switch it across. Apart from the obvious, trawling through their inbox jotting down each email address as we go...

 

Is there a way to export a list of people who have emailed them recently??

Yes, you can export an address book or if you need to acces the cached addresses, that is also possible but does require a little more digging. What version of Mac OS are they running?

I'm pretty sure they are on the latest version.. Whatever that is, Mavericks? Not hot on Mac stuff sorry.

I'm not in front of my mac until tonight so someone might have to back me up but the following used to be the best answer.

 

In Mail, go to the Window menu and select Previous Recipients.

 

There, you can command-click or shift-click or Select All to select multiple names and then click Add To Address Book. You can also sort by Name, Email, or Date Last Used to make it easier to select the ones you want.

I've already tried that however, it doesn't seem to be an up to date list of people who have emailed them.

I checked my mac and can confirm that the 'Previous recipients' list goes all the way back to when the mac was new.

Hi, L3OUGH,

 

As a relative newby to iMac myself … . You can get a list of all previous recipients as follows: In the Mail program, pull down the 'Window' menu and select 'Previous Recipients'. That gives you a small new window with a list of all addresses that you have written to. I haven't yet worked out how to copy/paste that to something you could use, but there is, in that new window, the option to 'Add to Contacts', so you could select all (cmd-A), 'Add to Contacts', then open Contacts and Print (select 'Style - Lists'). I haven't tried it myself, so - good luck!
