Hi everyone

We are moving to office 365 and i wondered if anyone has setup SMTP on 2008R2 to handle mail forwarding to office 365 mailboxes?

Certain applications or software cant send emails direct to office 365 such as APC UPS email alerts or HP Insight alerts and i believe i will need an inter SMTP server to solve this issue?

If anyone has done this, do know know of a good guide to setup?

Many Thanks

We have done it, use iis 6 and setup a stndard mail relay, there are loads of guides out there.

You need to provide login detaisl for your mail server though, well we did, it wouldn't except anynomous mail.

Is it really that simple? i dont need to specify a smart host, or specify the office365 domain in domains? im just curious on how it finds its way to office 365?

IIS6 on a 2012 Server.

Inbound security and Auth you can sort for yourself as that is personal preference.

But Outbound Security, basic auth, add account details turn on TLS.

Outboaund Connection Port is 587

Adavnced Delivery you put in smtp.office365.com as the Smart Host

I think that is pretty much it

Then it shoudl work
