Hiding Media Servers in Network Locations Section

Recommended Posts

Posted

I'm starting to install Windows 8 but noticed that now, Media Servers are populating the Network Locations heading when in My Computer. Is there any way to either not detect and display these on the Win8 machine or if not turn off the Media Server broadcast from machines. I want this off as the more computers i upgrade i dont want a huge list of every computer in the computer there.

Anyone help?Win8.jpg

Go to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Service.

Look for Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. Stop and Disable it.

You will be able to do this via GPO if you don't have it turned off in image.
