SimpleSi Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Is there any way of automating the installation of Arduino drivers so that if a computer has them installed - the first time an Arduino is plugged in - it'll will automagically find them Or will I have to manually install them on one type of machine and then re-image that across a suite? SimpleSi Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Looks quite encouraging that - thanks very much
Bev Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) I've been having a nightmare with these today. I've been around and installed the drivers on every PC but it still searches for them each time you reattach the Arduino, it finds them quicker the second time but it doesn't seem to recognise them automatically. And I have a feeling it's assigning a new COM port each time we use them. One of the PCs is up to COM6, I don't know if we will hit a problem when it runs out of numbers? SimpleSi Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 Well I'm up to com 37 on my home xp machine . That "feature" is worked around quite easy as when pupils try and upload it will offer to switch to the working com port I find
jbailey Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Is setup the system described in the attachment to allow drivers to be installed by non admins on Win 7 machines. Funnily enough for these drivers originally, you may find this of use. I got it from the Experts Exchange site - search for "Automating Hardware Installation in Vista and Windows 7" on there to find original Automating Hardware Installation.docxcc 2
