Elison Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 You are so lucky!! We'll see this movie in Russia only in 3 days It's so hard to wait!
elsiegee40 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 We saw it on Sunday. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't say it was the best film ever.... and it's SO long!
Andrew_C Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Too LOOOONNNGGGGG again. I've said before, I'm happy with "exploring the story"; all the stuff not in the book, like where Gandalf went. But the chase/fight scenes, sheesh! They could be halved, or indeed some of them excised entirely* and you would have a tighter, better film. Or pair of films; but NOT a trilogy! * in part one, you could have cut from finding the Elven swords in the Troll cave pretty much straight to Rivendell without loosing any story. With the plus point of not having the stupid "Rabbits". They WILL be seen as the Jar-Jar Binx of the film.
LoyalHeretic Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Saw it yesterday, and loved every minute of it. It was definitely long, but it didn't feel TOO long for me, as the story was very well paced and the action scenes were outstanding. [pedant]I do wish they could have been consistent with the pronunciation of 'Tauriel' though. [/pedant]
SovietRussia Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Saw it on Friday - Very good film! Ended on such a cliffhanger (Literally )
tmcd35 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Saw it on Friday - Very good film! Ended on such a cliffhanger (Literally ) Not seen it yet, not sure when I will to be honest. I knew they were streatching it into three films and trying to get this trilogy to link up better with the original trilogy (than the original Hobbit standalone story would have allowed). That said, (without wanting spoilers), cliffhanger!?! How does this film relate to the final two or three chapters of The Hobbit (which is about all that wasn't in the first film)? I take it they resolve the original book/story then set up a cliffhanger for film three to continue the story towards Lord of the Rings? or have they not resolved the original Hobbit story yet and have streatched it in to three films with lots of filler?

Yeah, they are stretching it out - first film is about the journey, finding the ring - 2nd film is a continuation of the story and the 3rd will be the epic finale. But the 2nd film ending really sets up the 3rd - I would recommend watching the 2nd definitely (I never saw the 1st one, and I could follow it with ease)
Elison Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) (I never saw the 1st one if you liked the second part, you definetely should watch the first one. It's long, yeah, but it worths it. I so jealous you, guys, I want to watch it so bad! Edited December 16, 2013 by Elison
