Kingsoft Office

Has anyone come across this Kingsoft office software ?

It looks quite neat and opens M$ Office files just fine, although it didn't covert ppt to doc, which their website says it does (which is why I downloaded it in the first place - maybe I need the pro version). I'm going to bookmark the page for when a student comes in and we have the following conversation :

 

student: "I need office on my laptop and the website says I can have it."

me: "The website says staff can have office for free not students, you can download OpenOffice for free."

student: "OpenOffice doesn't work...."

 

or maybe I'll just suggest LibreOffice.

you can get the pro version free for 1 year, dont know about converting ppt to doc though
