mrbios Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 How do you lot do it? At the moment, and for past many years it's been an excel spreadsheet for the internal calender (eurgh) and a written booklet at reception for booking meeting rooms. New receptionist at last though so we can finally move it into something easier to manage, what do you folk use for the internal calender? Also for meeting room bookings which need to have slots all the way down to 15 minute intervals, i need something that everyone can see, but only one person can edit. The receptionist will do the bookings but i want otehr people to be able to check if a room is free, rather than bothering the receptionist every time.
tmcd35 Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 The internal and external school calendars are hosted on shared google calendars. Meetings rooms are booked on our classroom booking system, a module integrated in to CSE, which we use for asset management and helpdesk. We also use Tucasi's BookingPro to manage booking facilities out to the public outside of school hours.
jamin Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 We use Meetingplanner from http://www.emergingsoft.com Its OK but tbh you could do the same with a cleaver exchange setup (if your users are comfortable with proper outlook calender usage) As for the school diaries we are just about to go live with something these guys: http://www.schoolssports.com have developed called Pro Event / Pro Admin which looks really quite cool. Its still being trialled but worth making contact with them for a chat.
p858snake Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 At highschool they used BookIT for bookings. At the primary school that I finished at today, There was a shared spreadsheet on sharepoint but transitioned back to a spreadsheet on the shared drive (Its a centrally managed SP, and it could take ~10 minutes for the s/sheet to open up) At Scouts HQ there is a custom calendar on our sharepoint for booking rooms.
browolf Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 shared exchange calendar with settings of who can edit it. what email system do you have?
mrbios Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 shared exchange calendar with settings of who can edit it. what email system do you have? Exchange 2013, i was tempted to do it that way, it's probably my preferred way to be honest, but i want options just in case.
GreatMarko Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 For our meeting rooms, and external community users of our school facilities, we use MIDAS, as it allows staff/external hirers to check room availability and submit booking requests online, which our facilities manager can then easily approve/reject with a couple of clicks (the system then automatically sends an email notification to the original requester too) I believe MIDAS can also be configured to allow for booking pre-define "time slots", or durations (i.e. 15 minutes), although we don't use that particular facility for our needs.
