ihaveaproblem Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 How do I link office 365 to the email tile ? I cant figure it out.
speckytecky Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I'm an Office 365 'newbie' but looking at your question @ihaveaproblem - I'm not sure what you are asking. Perhaps if you explain in greater detail one of our fellow edugeekers will have a useful answer for you - they usually do! How do I link office 365 to the email tile ? I cant figure it out.
ihaveaproblem Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 I'm an Office 365 'newbie' but looking at your question @ihaveaproblem - I'm not sure what you are asking. Perhaps if you explain in greater detail one of our fellow edugeekers will have a useful answer for you - they usually do! On HAP the email tile points to https://servername/owa I want to link this to office 365, but I cant figure it out because it always wants to keep the server name. I just want it to link to https://outlook.office365.com Or even better if there is a way so it does single sign on with office 365 so the user doesn't have to log in again.
nickbro Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 outlook.com/domainname.tld so for us outlook.com/crickhs.org 1
ihaveaproblem Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 outlook.com/domainname.tld so for us outlook.com/crickhs.org Thanks, I create a tile and enter outlook.com/domain as the url. The issue is when I click on that title instead of opening a webpage taking me to outlook.com/domain it opens a webpage trying to access https://internalserver/HAP/outlook.com/domain How can I set it up so it only goes to outlook.com/domain ? Thanks
nickbro Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 make sure you put https://www.outlook.com/domain
fairm010 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Sorry to drag up an old thread but as its on topic I thought I would. What are the requirements for the Live Tile with office 365? my users usernames are different to their O365 logins in this format: smitj001 - School [email protected] - O365 Using https://outlook.com/schoolname.co.uk in the URL field I'm getting URL Cannot be parsed. I'd love to have this set up. @nickbro can you shed some light on this one? Ta
nickbro Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 The url for exchange will need to be the full url of the actual server, once you've logged into your emails, have a look in the address bar, that domain is what you need
mattgrimley Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) Ahh the shame of dragging up a nearly 2 year old thread.. i'm sorry.. but... I'm failing to work this out and I'm wondering if things have changed a little at the Microsoft end since most of you set yours up? When i connect to Outlook, i dont see a nice specific servername and even if I use the link with my domain name in it, it gets redirected to the standard outlook.office.com post-login. Basically, when i log in to Outlook on Office 365, the URL is: https://outlook.office.com/owa/?realm=domain.org.uk#path=/mail But If i enter this in the "Exchange Support (Not Required)" field, i get the following error on loading HAP: The request failed. The remote name could not be resolved: 'https' I've tried many variations (as per suggestions in this and other threads) and get the following assortment of errors: outlook.office.com/owa/?realm=domain.org.uk#path=/mail = The request failed. Unable to connect to the remote server https://outlook.office.com/owa/?realm=domain.org.uk = The request failed. Unable to connect to the remote server outlook.office.com/owa/?realm=domain.org.uk = The request failed. Unable to connect to the remote server outlook.com/owa/domain.org.uk = The response received from the service didn't contain valid XML Do i need to use impersonation to get the live tiles working? Presumably if i put an impersonation account it, that would need access to each of the mailboxes? Again, really sorry to raise a very old thread from the dead!! Cheers in advance, Matt Edited November 27, 2015 by mattgrimley
nickbro Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 If you leave the EWS url field blank HAP+ should auto find the URL to use.
mattgrimley Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Thanks Nick, but that's not working for me.. though to be fair, i can't even get the impersonation stuff working through Office 365. I've created the management role and assigned everything out, but i'm just getting "5.7.60 SMTP Client does not have permissions to send as this sender". With regard to your suggestion above, i guess i might have some autodiscover rules which might stop that from working as we are currently operating in hybrid mode.. I'll get back in to this tomorrow and see if i cant make progress on some of it! Matt
nickbro Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Ok, the error code seems to point to it either getting auto routed incorrectly, or a permissions issue.
Sale_El Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 We use adfs smart links to get the job done, the link is massive but it just logs in to the users mailbox straight away. Microsoft made our link but if you follow this thread you should get a similar result. Office 365 Smart Links | Kloud Blog
mattgrimley Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) If you leave the EWS url field blank HAP+ should auto find the URL to use. Hey Nick, I'm really sorry to be needy, but I think i'm possibly over-complicating things and rapidly getting nowhere! We have an SMTP relay server configured internally which can relay mail without authentication for the relevant clients. I can telnet from the HAP server to the SMTP server and i can generate emails from whoever to whoever at the organisation and they work fine. Ignoring all of the EWS stuff (which i suspect won't work nicely for us anyway as we don't have SSO implemented), i can't get helpdesk emails working at all.. Booking notifications seem to be working however. the relevent line from my hapconfig.xml file is: but even that generates a "Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed." on login. (i guess that is just the exchange tile trying to do its thing?) Is it logical for me to ignore the exchange support at the moment and just try to get helpdesk mails flowing again or are they inextricably linked? Thanks again, Matt (P.S. I am concious that i'm possibly leading the thread away from its original focus, so if you'd prefer me to start a new one, i can move this!) Edited December 17, 2015 by mattgrimley
mattgrimley Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Hmm, one of my presumtions above was incorrect. I can't impersonate unless "sendas" is explicitly set on the user account.. which i can find no way of doing "en masse".. I kinda thought the SMTP relay would handle that for me
