Any recommendations for apps for an android and a windows tablet to wirelessly connect to a PC to show the tablets screen?

 

Apple has airserve and a few, but am struggling to find any for a windows tablet.

Is there any software that can be installed on the tablet and PC? I tried mirrorop but that keeps crashing on the PC.

No, but is that going to be user friendly?! Needs to be basic basic basic for our users.

yes but it dosent stop your normal wifi connection

 

its also now also called miracast and isnt an intel proprietry standard. Aparantly some samsung tablets among others support it surface 2 rt and both pros do for example

On Android a Miracast Receiver of some kind will show the device's screen wirelessly on a monitor/projector (Not quite the same as wirelessly showing on a PC as was originally asked). This is supported natively from Android 4.3 onwards I believe but apparently only on certain devices - It can be switched on via Settings > Display > Wireless Display. The receivers cost between £40 - £70 from my initial research and some seem to have better reviews than others. I am planning on ordering one this week for testing...

I've been looking at this too. Which receiver are you thinking of ordering?

Almost certainly the Netgear PTV300 as mentioned by plexer. We have several Nexus 10 tablets we use in school and I have read a few reviews which suggest that the PTV3000 works well with this tablet although some say it is buggy and temperamental. Cheapest price I have found so far is £60inc VAT

Since both your Nexus 10's and Windows 8.1 tablets support MiraCast that would be the most logical choice.

Just to update: I picked up a Netgear PTV3000 this afternoon. Connected it to a projector, updated the firmware (really straightforward to do) and then did some testing with my Nexus 10 - Initially it seemed to struggle with streaming video and the display flickered frequently. Then I went back into the setup and found an option to do with supporting other devices, checked this and the mirroring worked great since. I have now passed it over to the class to test further...

 

Be aware that Netgear do not supply an HDMI cable with the receiver.

Can't really say as I havn't tried MirrorOp as our devices aren't rooted... There's a few videos online that show the Nexus 10 / PTV3000 in action. There is a short lag but almost insignificant. The image quality and resolution is very good. Occasional distortion on the sound too but nothing major. Still haven't tested it exhaustively but so far it's looking like a great purchase.
