My eldest has requested an emergency charger for her iPhone 5 for Christmas. She doesn't want anything too big or too heavy. Does anyone have a recommendation? .... Suggesting that getting another phone with a better battery is not an option!

An Anker external battery

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s_ss_i_1_5?k=anker+battery&sprefix=Anker

I have the Astro 3E which is 10,000 mAh but anything above 10,000 will do fine. That or maybe one of those cases that has a battery

I prefer the external Anker battery though. Need an ipad or high wattage usb mains charger otherwise it takes 22 hours to re-charge

An Anker external battery

+1. I have a 2nd gen. 12,000mAh Astro3 myself and it's brilliant. It can easily power a Nexus 5 for an entire week.

Since your daughter doesn't want anything too heavy, the 6,000mAh Astro3 (£20.79*) or the 3,000mAh Astro Mini (£11.19*) would be better choices. The former will fully charge an iPhone three times, while the latter does just over one full charge.

* Prices after using 'ANKERTHX' code. More details here: www.ianker.com/ad/bf/index_uk.html

I bought an Astro E4 and it is brilliant. Charges 3 -4 times, lightweight, fits any phone with included adaptors. Really good on the train etc or days out. Thoroughly recommended.
