Bandwidth Limiting in Transparent Proxy

Hi all,

 

I am using my smoothie in transparent proxy mode, as a test I have tried to set the bandwidth limiting to 512Kb/s each for all users.

 

I have disabled all the other bandwidth limiting policies for my test.

 

I can still see users consuming upto 4 Mb/s.

 

does the bandwidth limiting work with transparent proxy mode?

We have just bought the layer 7 filtering so hopefully that works otherwise its pointless.

From my experience it's very difficult to do. The only way I could get it to work was with per user IP rules on a MictoTik Router.

It turns out I have been making a noob error - I was testing my line speed in bits and the smoothie does its limiting in bytes.

 

with a little conversion it would seem the bandwidth policies have applied nicely.
