Hey Guys

I have all the students in AD under a OU called Students they are all mixed with each other and I want to sort them into seprate OU's for different intakes there names are like this Timmy07Jones for example Firstname:intake:Lastname. is there anyway I can just search for usernames with "07" in them???

Thanks in advance :)

In AD Users and Computers:

  1. Go to View > Filter Options
  2. Create custom filter, click Customize
  3. Click Advanced
  4. Enter LDAP query: (cn=*07*)
  5. Click OK twice

ADUC will refresh, now when you go to any OU it will only display accounts with 07 in the common name. Don't forget to set it back to "Show all types of objects" afterwards.

More on LDAP queries can be found here: Search Filter Syntax (Windows)
