to what if they wont spend on pcs they arnt going to on a a ts and lics or appv

 

Wasn't thinking of using a TS, just shoving Thin PC on the thing and using it as an OS in its own right, should be fine for light-use PCs.

 

.NET 4 will install (I tested it), didn't check <3.5 though...

1 other thing, if they can't afford new machines, i doubt they will have SA. Something needed to use ThinPC legally.

If they're old machines being kept limping along for as long as possible, I doubt SIMS would run well even on a full OS.

they have ees so the only thing stopping me putting windows 7 on them is lack of ram. Sims isn't an issue its not on the curric network at all and staff laptops are mainly win7 theres a few ancient acer tm41xx things nocking round for teachers but iirc those teachers are retiring this year. I think the idea is to use the netbooks and dump the suite in the long run (netbooks are on win7 (might look into 8.1 on them)) might even try 8.1 on the suite as it seems faster on the same hardware than 7

The secondary school I work at is now purely Windows 7 (x64). Everything else was binned.

 

The primary schools are a bit more difficult as a lot of the hardware is so old it just won't be able to run Windows 7. Any new kit coming in goes on Windows 7 and I'm in the process of upgrading everything that will support it to Windows 7 but there are the odd standalone RM machines in classrooms that will probably be left until they break as they aren't on the internet or domain so it's not really an issue if they are still running XP.

we have a few computers left on Windows XP but should have them all changed to Windows 7 by Christmas.. sad to see XP go

Have about 6,000 left on XP....I'd say the deadline with fast come and disappear for us lol

About half our machines are xp, I'm working hard to push win7 as the default install and move existing hardware to 7, but alot of underspecced pcs means win7 wont run too well, and no money for upgrades/new machines on some campus'. Also the boss doesn't see it as a big rush

 

Also trying to get 2003 to 2008 done, managed to get 3 machines during the summer, and 2 left which are backup dc and sophos server, i'm hoping to combine.
