Time Lapse Advice

Hi All,

 

We're going to be getting some web/ip cams installed on our green roof. I though a cool thing to do would be a time lapse over the year to show changing seasons etc.

 

My question is how many frames should I take per day/night. I don't want it too long but I also don't want it to flick from day to night too quick as I can imagine this to hurt eyes.

 

My initial thought was 48 frames per 24 hours so each day night cycle would be 2 seconds long when played at 24 FPS. Or would it be better to still do 48 frames per 24 hours but play back at a lower FPS?

 

Any advice welcome.

Take the maximum you think you'll need - err on the side of too many, then if you decide you need less you've just got to trim down the number of frames, whereas if you do too few you've got to spend another year getting more photos.
