Squip Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 This is a long shot but here goes.. I have not long taken over 2 seperate sites which both use classlink9 only to find both DC's haven't installed Windows Updates since their servers were installed in 2011. Fast forward, 200 odd server updates later and now whenever I try to browse to http://classlink9 on either server you get a HTTP 500 error. I have spoken to Viglen who have said isn't a known fault and want £600 for half a days work to fix it, but I'm thinking it's a bit of a coincidence it has happened on 2 completely separate servers with Windows Updates. Anyone happen to have had this problem before? Otherwise it's going to be a long day for me removing updates one at a time
Edu-IT Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I assume you don't have a support contract with them then? Have you checked event viewer for any pointers?
Squip Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 No support contract, the only errors I can find in the event viewer are - Source: IIS-Configuration Event ID: 12 Unable to find schema for config section 'system.serviceModel/client'. This section will be ignored. Unable to find schema for config section 'system.serviceModel/extensions'. This section will be ignored. This is logged every time I restart the website. Have also checked C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\HTTPERR but nothing obvious. Come to think of it I have installed WSUS on the same server also around the same time, am going to try and uninstall it now on one and see what happens
Squip Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 For anyone wondering, WSUS was the culprit! Removed and everything works tickety-boo again.
Edu-IT Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 How do your clients pick up their Windows updates?
