Hello, we are having problems with teachers and students leaving computers on which are then left over night and on weekends which is wasting alot of power and costs which could be used else where.

Any suggestions to power management software/system where I can control the computers on the network and setup schedules for auto shutdowns etc,?

I know some software called "Powerwise", but they are useless in replying to calls and emails to their support.

We use powerman here, but in my last place I just used a shutdown script run from the server to shutdown each room at specific times.

Additionally, can't GPP allow you to make changes so you can set power options for when the computer/monitor goes to sleep etc (I've not tried this but I thought I saw settings somewhere).

We use Faronics Powersave, it wasn't necessarily cheap, but is quite effective, and provides the ability to report on the power savings, alongside policies for different groups of machines, and it has a feature to save open files which may be useful.
