So I have SCCM 2012 installed and working lovely. I have the WSUS component doing it's thing, but what I want to know is for a maintenance window you need to specify a time slot for updates to install. Does anyone know how much time I should be allowing for each update? Just so I can start working out what I need.

Thanks

You specify your window, for example 2 hours. SCCM will decide if there is enough time in the Window to install the software update.

We have one first thing in the morning. Sometimes stuff will not install because its a small window, it will pickup in the larger afternoon window.

Maximum run time - the default is 60 min for service packs and 5 minutes for regular updates. If you go to All Software Updates and right click one and go to properties click the Maximum Run time tab it will tell you. For a maintenance window I think SCCM requires you leave atleast 4 hours.
