mrbios Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 currently installing 4 2012 R2 physical servers, these will host the 2012 R2 Dcs and one 2008 r2 for sims only issue so far is file copying and network speed if logged on the server, works fine if copying from win 7 to the server Why no virtualisation? Seems like a bit of a waste of hardware to use a whole box just for a DC.

Seems like a bit of a waste of hardware to use a whole box just for a DC. they are , may be i did not give enough info 4 physical servers, these are hyperv hosts the 2 DCs virtual, one 2008 for sims virtual either a smooth wall or lightspeed machine
Coleshill Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I have upgraded 4 server so far to 2012 R2 with no real issues apart from an MDT server where I had to reinstall MDT to a newer version.
internetuser Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I have done about 8 now. Only problem was our WDS server, it worked, but the drivers were not injecting into the image once it had deployed them, so had to roll back to 2008r2 in the short term.
Firefox Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Sadly we're stuck with a certain AV product that has no support for 2012 R2 as yet! I guess their founder saying they're a terrible product must have been true! lol
