changing from Windows Server 2008 (32 bit) to 64 bit version

What is the best way to do this? I need to take all my user accounts and information from one to the other.

If you have a 2008 32Bit Server and it's a Domain Controller, you can add a 2008 R2 64Bit Server and promote it as a Domain Controller too. You just need to update the schema first which is easy enough.

 

In Active Directory world, 32 or 64Bit Servers are treated the same. This just leaves you to migrate shares and any other roles your existing server is hosting.
