MrFrostmaul Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Hello, I am currently trying to connect a laptop to the domain, I have done this fine for the other laptops, but when trying to edit the computer properties from WorkGroup to Domain, the domain box is grayed out and cannot change it. I have a feeling that this is something simple that I am missing. Any help would be much appreciated.
Michael Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I presume it's Windows 7 Professional or Enterprise and not Home? Another possibility is a lack of local permissions i.e. not a local administrator.
MrFrostmaul Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 It's running "Windows 7 Home Premium". I am logged in with my account on the laptop which is a administrator account.
computer_expert Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Home versions of windows 7 cannot join a domain. As Michael mentions you need either windows 7 pro or enterprise to allow the domain join
MrFrostmaul Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 Ahh, ok. Thank you very much for your help
