DPM 2010 - Bare Metal Recovery

I've been checking a few of my backups to make sure that they are working correctly, and i'm having trouble trying to restore the data of a domain controller I am backing up. The backup logs say it's all working fine and with a backup set for Bare Metal Recovery, System State, and the OS drive data, however when I run through a recovery and have it copy the data out for a bare metal recovery it says that it has exported 40gb (which is about right) however when I check the folder it is only 3mb.

 

When the recovery is taking place it puts a VHD file into the folder which it states is 40gb, however once the recovery finishes that VHD gets deleted and all I am left with is is a few XML files. Any ideas?

Ok I think I have solved this now. I have been restoring the data to a Windows Server 2003 server, however when it finishes the restore it deletes the VHD file, when I restore the data to a Windows Server 2008 server it keeps the VHD file intact.

 

I've no idea why it would delete this file when transferring to a Windows Server 2003 machine, doesn't make much sense to me!
