Hi,

We have an issue that only happens on Windows 7 x64 machines. When you log onto the domain the internet explorer (v9 x86 version of IE) short-cut breaks.

Its points the the following, Z drive being the users home drive.

Target: "Z:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"

Start In: %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

The short-cut found in the default user profile is correct.

This doesn't happen on Windows 7 x86 machines only x64.

Does anyone know what would be causing this? Its not a GPO as far as I can see, even if it was it would happen on x86 machines as well.

Thanks

We had a similar issue when imaging machines with SCCM. If a domain admin logged onto the machine after it was imaged, all was fine. If a normal user logged on, before a domain admin, the shortcut would be broken or missing. In the end we inserted a step into the task sequence (right after the IE install) to delete a registry key which resolved the problem:

reg.exe DELETE "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components" /v "NoIE4StubProcessing" /f
