Hey all,

Any recommendations of a paid for, Windows /cloud based network monitoring tool?

I tried nagios but my Linux is pathetic and my time is short. I have quite a generous budget to pay out with and have waded through the free ones and either they don't do everything I want or are not supported anymore so just want to pay for a nice, easy to use system. Must be Windows, price isn't a problem.

Thanks all

Solarwinds is a big name in network and application monitoring not sure if they have any cloud solutions or not. But it has a web interface so you can access it from anywhere provided you open the firewall.

Microsoft offers cloud based management and monitoring called windows intune.

And for a freebie Opsview is a nice interface for nagios. They have a community and enterprise edition.

Depends what you want to monitor. We are using NagiosXI (paid for version of Nagios - support and no Linux knowledge required) and System Center Operation Manager. Both are good at what they do... SCOM is cheap as chips for education and will give you really in depth monitoring if you are a Microsoft house.

You will need to spend weeks setting up any monitoring system though. There is no simple 'monitor my network' button... you need to tweak and fiddle with the monitors until you get things just so.

Are you just looking for an SNMP poller or something more in-depth that will do event log monitoring? If the former, then give Dude a try if you haven't already. I set it up here monitoring a fairly large infrastructure complete with detailed maps and alerts. I've even got it graphing charge, load, and input voltage from my APC units.

The mentioned is in fact free, but just because something requires payment doesn't mean it's good.
